KID’S PASTOR. First Baptist Church of Marion, Arkansas is seeking a full-time pastor of birth through sixth grade children to be part of a collaborative ministry team and a multigenerational church that is sent to welcome and disciple all people to faith in Christ. Send inquiries and resumes to

First Marion is a medium-sized, multigenerational church in eastern Arkansas. Marion is a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee with all the benefits of a small-town community and easy access to the city.

First Marion’s Children’s Pastor should be an engaging, outgoing leader with an academic degree complimentary to ministry and experience working with children. The Pastor will be responsible for growing the current children’s ministry by developing, overseeing, and implementing an effective ministry. The First Kids Ministry (FKM) currently reaches 50-60 elementary aged children and 20-30 preschool aged children each month. The Pastor will have direct oversight over Kids Life Groups, Kids Church, Kids Connection Groups, Wednesday After School Program, and Wednesday Night First Kids Worship. Additionally, the Pastor will work alongside the Worship Pastor to oversee Kids Choir.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Born-again Christian with an engaging and gracious personality

  • An evident calling to vocational ministry and a sincere passion to minister through the local church to influence the lives of children with the gospel of Jesus Christ

  • Experience working with children

  • An academic degree that compliments one’s field of ministry is preferred. The lack of an academic degree can be overcome with proven experience in one’s ministry field.

  • Professionalism in interpersonal relationships in regard to confidentiality with sensitive information

  • A self-directed, self-motivated worker with strong leadership, organizational, and people skills

  • An engaging teacher with a solid biblical and theological background

  • A team player (interested in the overall success and health of the church)

  • Detail-oriented, yet flexible in regards to calendar management


General Duties:

  • Plan and oversee all activities included in the children’s ministry

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for each activity in the children’s ministry

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for all childcare needs for church activities

  • Select and issue the needed curriculum for each activity included in the children’s ministry

  • Maintain a children’s ministry calendar for all activities for children from birth through sixth grade

  • Develop and present an annual budget recommendation to the finance committee

  • Provide a safe learning environment that is dynamic and worshipful from the child’s perspective

  • Provide direction, counsel, and training to parents related to interaction with children and leading children to faith in Jesus

  • Attend staff meetings, retreats, or conferences as directed by the Senior Pastor

  • Perform routine background checks on every children’s ministry volunteer

  • Oversee the First Kids Ministry Leadership Team

  • Serve on the LifeShapers Leadership Team and provide weekly chapel teaching for LifeShapers

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
